The EX-MAX-10 Maine Coon cat tree is a tall freestanding structure from the MAX range, designed specifically for large and heavy cats. It combines three substantial scratching posts with four resting places: a paddle-style bed, a two-level pouch hammock and a round dish bed. All principal resting elements have a diameter of 60 cm, providing considerably more room than the small shelves and hammocks used on many conventional cat trees.
EX-MAX-10 has been developed primarily for Maine Coons, Norwegian Forest Cats and other powerfully built cats, including animals weighing more than 8 kg. Its 18 cm diameter posts, spacious beds and stable base meet the needs of cats for which lightweight structures with narrow posts are too small or insufficiently stable.
The most distinctive feature of this model is the double pouch hammock. It creates two soft resting levels in the central section of the cat tree. Together with the paddle bed and round dish bed, it gives the cat a choice ranging from an open observation platform to a flexible hammock that partially surrounds the body.
The complete structure stands on a square 70 × 70 cm base. Its substantial footprint helps maintain stability while the cat climbs, descends, scratches the posts and jumps onto the upper resting areas.
Stability is especially important for a Maine Coon. During a dynamic jump, the force acting on the structure may be considerably greater than the weight of a cat resting quietly. The combination of a broad base and 18 cm posts creates a strong structure designed for intensive everyday use.
The cat tree should be positioned on an even, firm and stable floor. Sufficient free space should be left around it so that a large cat can jump onto the paddle bed and round bed, turn around and climb down without hitting nearby walls, windowsills or furniture.
The overall height of EX-MAX-10 is 185 cm. The structure uses space primarily in the vertical direction, providing several levels for activity and rest without occupying an exceptionally large floor area.
The upper bed can serve as an elevated observation point. The cat can rest well above floor level and monitor what is happening in the room. For many cats, an elevated position creates a greater sense of security and a quieter place to sleep.
Resting areas positioned at different levels allow the cat to change location throughout the day. It can choose the open paddle bed, one of the two hammock levels or the upper round dish bed with its padded ring.
EX-MAX-10 is supported by three posts with a diameter of 18 cm. They are noticeably thicker than the posts used on many standard cat trees. Their large diameter provides an extensive scratching surface and substantial support for the tall structure and enlarged beds.
The model uses one 80 cm post and two 40 cm posts. These sections create the successive levels of the tree and give the cat several sisal surfaces that can be used from different positions.
The cat can scratch while standing on the base, grip the posts when moving between levels and use them for climbing or pulling its body upwards. Distributing scratching surfaces throughout the structure improves its everyday functionality.
The longest post is 80 cm long. It provides a considerably larger vertical scratching surface than the shorter elements separating the individual levels. A Maine Coon can place its front paws high, grip the sisal and extend a significant part of its body.
EX-MAX-10 is primarily a multi-level cat tree with four resting places rather than a structure centred on one exceptionally long 120–130 cm post. It is particularly suitable for a cat that enjoys hammocks and elevated beds in addition to scratching.
Regular scratching helps remove the outer layers of the claws, stretch the muscles and satisfy natural marking behaviour. A thick post provides a broad surface into which a heavy cat can firmly grip its claws.
One of the principal resting places is a paddle-style bed with a diameter of 60 cm. It is fitted with a soft padded ring that defines the sleeping surface and supports the cat’s head, back or paws.
A 60 cm diameter is important for an adult Maine Coon. Small side platforms may be sufficient for brief sitting, but they do not give a large cat enough space for a longer sleep. On EX-MAX-10, the paddle element functions as a full-sized bed.
The open design gives the cat a clear view of the room. It can position its body inside the padded ring, lean against the edge or allow its paws and tail to extend beyond the central surface.
The paddle bed can also act as an intermediate level while the cat moves through the structure. It can pause there before climbing higher or use it as a permanent observation point.
The centre of EX-MAX-10 contains an XL double pouch hammock with a diameter of 60 cm. It is designed for EX-MAX structures with 18 cm posts. Its double construction creates two soft resting levels positioned one above the other.
Each level supports the body differently from a rigid shelf. The fabric settles beneath the cat and adapts to its shape. The cat can sink slightly into the hammock, curl its body and support its head or paws against the edge.
The pouch form partially surrounds the torso, creating a more sheltered position than the open paddle or dish beds. It is not an enclosed house, however, so the cat retains visual contact with the room and can leave the bed freely.
Two hammock levels increase the number of available resting places without making the cat tree much wider. The cat can choose the upper or lower pouch according to temperature, sunlight, its desire to observe the room and its preferred sleeping position.
The double hammock is also practical in a multi-cat home. Two compatible animals may occupy different levels, although simultaneous use will always depend on their size, temperament and relationship.
The hammock cover can be removed for washing. This makes it easier to remove hair and refresh the surface that remains in direct contact with the cat’s body during everyday rest.
The highest resting zone is a round dish bed with a diameter of 60 cm, also fitted with a soft padded ring. Its large circular surface can be used both for sleeping and for observing the room from above.
The cat can rest curled up, lie in a semi-reclined position or support its head and paws against the raised ring. The 60 cm diameter gives an adult Maine Coon considerably more freedom than a small upper platform on a conventional cat tree.
The padded ring creates soft support and clearly separates the resting area from the edge of the wooden element. At the same time, the bed remains open, giving the cat a wide field of vision.
The elevated location suits cats that naturally select the highest available level. It may become a favourite place for watching household activity, resting and sleeping.
EX-MAX-10 provides a total of four principal resting places: the paddle bed with padded ring, two levels of the double pouch hammock and the round dish bed with padded ring. Each offers a different form of body support and a different height.
The paddle and round beds provide stable open surfaces, while the hammocks adapt to the cat’s shape and partially surround it. The animal is therefore not restricted to one type of sleeping place.
This choice is useful throughout the day. The cat can change location according to room temperature, sunlight, its need for quiet sleep or its desire to observe the surroundings.
The number of levels means that EX-MAX-10 can be used by one large cat or by several animals. Individual cats may occupy the paddle bed, round bed and two hammock levels without having to share a single resting surface.
This does not mean that every group of cats will rest on the structure simultaneously. Shared use depends on their relationships, temperament and preferred distance from one another.
The extensive layout nevertheless offers more possibilities than a small cat tree with one hammock or shelf. It can be practical in a home with several large cats or in a cattery where resting areas are used more intensively.
EX-MAX-10 has an open layout and does not contain an enclosed house. All resting places remain visible and easy to access. The model suits cats that prefer to monitor the room and are reluctant to enter fully enclosed dens.
The absence of a house does not mean there is no sheltered position. The two pouch hammocks partially surround the body, while the padded rings on the paddle and round beds form soft raised edges. The cat can select different degrees of enclosure without entering a closed space.
The open structure also makes it easier to reach the individual elements when vacuuming, removing covers and checking the condition of the cat tree.
EX-MAX-10 combines a scratching tree, vertical activity area and extensive resting zone. The cat can use the posts, climb between levels, pause on the paddle bed and choose one of the hammocks or the upper round bed.
The structure can be used throughout the day—for stretching after waking, claw care, play, observing the household and prolonged sleep.
Developed vertical space is particularly important for indoor cats. It allows them to satisfy their natural preference for climbing and elevated positions without using wardrobes, shelves or other household furniture.
The cover of the double pouch hammock can be removed for washing. A separate replacement cover set is also available for EX-MAX-10, allowing the textile resting elements to be renewed after extended use.
Replaceable covers are especially useful when a cat tree is used every day by a large cat or several animals. Textile components may wear sooner than the posts and wooden structural parts.
A second set can be used alternately, make it easier to keep the beds in suitable condition or provide a later change of colour. There is no need to replace the complete cat tree merely because the resting surfaces require renewal.
EX-MAX-10 is intended for long-term use. Worn covers, beds, posts and other components can be replaced later with suitable spare parts.
This is important with large cats, which place greater loads on the beds and use sisal surfaces more intensively. Replacing an individual component makes it possible to maintain the structure without purchasing a complete new cat tree.
Available fabric, wood and rope colours can be selected during configuration. An engraving option and additional choices for the finish of the base are also available.
A 185 cm cat tree is a visible element of the interior. Coordinating the wood, fabric and rope allows it to suit a living room, bedroom, dedicated cat room or cattery.
Before ordering, it is worth comparing the available variants and choosing a configuration that matches both the practical needs of the cat and the colour scheme of the room.
The model has been developed primarily for Maine Coons, Norwegian Forest Cats and other large and heavy cats, including animals weighing more than 8 kg. Selection should, however, consider not only body weight but also body length, age, mobility and preferred resting habits.
EX-MAX-10 is particularly suitable for a cat that enjoys hammocks, elevated observation areas and frequently changing sleeping places. Two soft hammock levels and two open beds provide clearly different resting conditions.
Because the structure is 185 cm high, the cat’s mobility should also be considered. A young and active Maine Coon may use every level freely, while an older animal or a cat with limited mobility may require an easier route between the individual elements.
EX-MAX-10 is a tall and stable Maine Coon cat tree combining three thick scratching posts, two soft levels of a double pouch hammock and two large beds with padded rings. Its multi-level arrangement provides a large cat with room to scratch, climb, observe its surroundings and rest in several different positions.
