The EX-MAX-4A cat tree for Maine Coons is a large freestanding model from the MAX range, designed for large and heavy cats. It combines three substantial 18 cm scratching posts with three different resting areas: a large double hammock, a spacious enclosed house and an elevated rosette bed.

EX-MAX-4A was developed primarily for Maine Coons, Norwegian Forest Cats and other large, strongly built cats. Its enlarged resting elements provide considerably more usable space than the small platforms, hammocks and houses commonly found on standard cat trees.

The main distinguishing feature of this model is its large double hammock. Together with the enclosed house and open rosette bed, it creates three resting areas with completely different characteristics. The cat can choose an embracing hammock, retreat into the house or rest high above the floor while observing the room.

Stable 60 × 80 cm base

EX-MAX-4A stands on a rectangular 60 × 80 cm base. A suitable support area is particularly important in a cat tree designed for large cats, which generate greater dynamic loads when jumping between levels than when simply resting.

The cat tree should be positioned on a level, firm and stable floor. Sufficient free space should be left around it so that a large cat can comfortably use the hammock, enter the house and move between the different levels.

182 cm high with several activity levels

The total height of EX-MAX-4A is 182 cm. The structure makes effective use of vertical space, allowing the cat to climb, move between levels and rest well above the floor.

The highest rosette functions as both a comfortable bed and an observation point. Below it is the spacious enclosed house, while the double hammock creates an additional, more embracing resting zone.

Three substantial 18 cm scratching posts

EX-MAX-4A is equipped with three scratching posts, each 18 cm in diameter. Their large diameter provides an extensive surface for daily scratching and substantial support for the generously sized resting elements.

The model uses two 40 cm posts and one 120 cm post, providing scratching surfaces at several levels of the structure.

120 cm post for full-body stretching

The longest scratching post measures 120 cm. It allows a large cat to place its front paws high on the post and fully extend its body while scratching. This is particularly useful for Maine Coons with their long bodies and substantial reach.

Scratching is not only part of claw maintenance. It also allows cats to stretch the muscles of the back, shoulders and limbs and to mark their environment naturally. A long vertical scratching surface supports these behaviours in a comfortable position.

Large 70 × 70 cm double hammock

One of the most important features of EX-MAX-4A is the large 70 × 70 cm double hammock. The actual lying area measures approximately 45 × 65 cm.

The double hammock creates a more embracing resting place than a conventional open platform. The material supports the cat's body while the raised sides provide a comfortable place to rest the back, head or paws. It is especially appealing to cats that enjoy being gently surrounded while sleeping.

Spacious house for a large cat

The second resting zone is a large enclosed house with an internal diameter of 50 cm and a height of 40 cm. The top measures 56 cm in diameter. Its dimensions have been selected with large cat breeds in mind.

The enclosed interior gives the cat a place to withdraw from its surroundings and sleep undisturbed. It provides a completely different type of rest from the double hammock and open rosette bed.

Rosette bed with a 50 cm internal diameter

The highest resting area is a spacious rosette bed with an internal diameter of 50 cm and a 56 cm top diameter. Its raised edge surrounds the cat and provides comfortable support while resting.

The internal diameter represents the actual usable space available to the cat. The 50 cm interior is designed for large cats, while the elevated position also provides an excellent view of the surroundings.

Three different resting zones

EX-MAX-4A provides three full-size resting areas with different characteristics. The double hammock creates a soft, embracing bed, the house offers a quiet enclosed retreat and the rosette provides an elevated open area for resting and observation.

The cat can therefore change location according to the time of day, temperature, need for privacy or desire to observe the room. Several independent resting areas can also be practical in a multi-cat household.
