EX-MAX-5 Maine Coon Cat Tree – Three Large Beds and 18 cm Posts

The EX-MAX-5 Maine Coon cat tree is a freestanding model from the MAX range, designed specifically for large and heavy cats. It combines a substantial structure, extra-thick scratching posts and three different resting areas: an elongated trough-style bed, a round dish bed and a spacious rosette bed.

EX-MAX-5 has been developed primarily for Maine Coons, Norwegian Forest Cats and other cats with a large, powerful build. The enlarged resting elements and 18 cm diameter posts make it suitable for cats for which standard cat trees are often too small, too narrow or insufficiently substantial.

A distinctive feature of this model is the combination of three completely different open resting areas. The cat can stretch out in the long trough bed, settle on the round dish bed or relax in the more enclosing rosette. This means it is not restricted to a single style of resting place.

Stable 70 × 70 cm base

The cat tree stands on a square 70 × 70 cm base. Its generous footprint helps support the complete structure while the cat climbs, scratches or jumps onto the higher resting areas.

This is particularly important for a large cat because the dynamic load generated during a jump can be considerably greater than the weight of an animal resting quietly on a bed.

The cat tree should be positioned on a level, firm and stable floor. Sufficient free space should be left around it so that a large cat can jump onto the beds, turn around and move between the different levels comfortably.

The total height of EX-MAX-5 is 150 cm. It provides several resting levels and an elevated observation point while remaining lower than the tallest structures in the MAX range.

It can therefore be a good choice for owners who need a full-size cat tree for a large cat but do not require a structure approaching two metres or reaching the ceiling.

Three substantial 18 cm scratching posts

EX-MAX-5 is supported by three scratching posts with a diameter of 18 cm. They are considerably thicker than the posts used on many standard cat trees and provide an extensive surface for everyday scratching.

The posts are 40, 80 and 130 cm long. Their different lengths provide scratching surfaces at several levels of the structure.

130 cm post for a full-body stretch

The longest post measures an impressive 130 cm and is one of the most important features of EX-MAX-5. A large cat can place its front paws high on the post, straighten its back and stretch almost its entire body while scratching.

This is particularly valuable for adult Maine Coons with long bodies and limbs. A short scratching post often prevents a large cat from adopting a natural upright stretching position.

Scratching helps cats remove the outer layers of their claws, stretch their muscles and perform natural scent-marking behaviour. A sufficiently long vertical surface allows these activities to be performed comfortably.

Elongated 70 × 50 cm trough-style bed

The largest resting area on EX-MAX-5 is the elongated 70 × 50 cm trough-style bed. Its shape is well suited to the proportions of a large cat.

A Maine Coon can lie along the bed, stretch its body, rest its head against the raised side or settle into a partially curled position. Its 70 cm length provides considerably more room than the small shelves found on many standard cat trees.

The shaped sides create a more sheltered resting area than a completely flat platform while still allowing the cat to keep a clear view of the room.

Round dish bed Ø51 cm

The second resting area is a round dish bed with a diameter of 51 cm. It can be used for sleeping, observing the room or as a comfortable resting point while moving between the different levels.

The circular shape suits cats that like to curl up, rest in a semi-curled position or place their paws along the edge. The 51 cm diameter makes it a proper resting area rather than merely a small step or sitting platform.

Rosette bed with a 50 cm internal diameter

The third resting area is a spacious rosette bed with an internal diameter of 50 cm. The upper outer element measures 56 cm in diameter.

Its raised surround supports the cat's back, head or paws. The rosette is particularly suitable for cats that enjoy leaning against a surrounding edge while sleeping but do not necessarily want to enter a fully enclosed house.

The internal diameter is particularly important because it represents the actual usable space available to the cat. The 50 cm interior has been selected with large breeds in mind.

Three resting areas instead of one compromise bed

The combination of a trough bed, round dish bed and rosette gives EX-MAX-5 three clearly different ways to rest. The trough allows the body to stretch out, the dish provides an open surface and the rosette creates a more embracing bed with a raised surround.

The cat can change its resting place according to the temperature, time of day, desire to observe the room and preferred sleeping position.

Three independent beds can also be practical in a multi-cat household, allowing different cats to occupy separate levels rather than competing for a single favourite place.

Open design without an enclosed house

EX-MAX-5 does not include an enclosed cat house. All resting areas remain open, clearly visible and easy to access.

This makes the model particularly suitable for cats that prefer open beds and observation points to fully enclosed hiding places. At the same time, the shaped trough and rosette provide different degrees of support and enclosure.

Replaceable covers and long-term usability

A separate set of replacement covers is available for EX-MAX-5. This makes it possible to refresh the resting elements after extended use without replacing the complete cat tree.

This is particularly useful when the product is used intensively by a large cat or several animals. Worn textile components can be replaced while the main structure remains in service.

Customisable finish

Available material, wood, mat and rope colours as well as other configuration options can be selected when ordering. This allows the appearance of the cat tree to be coordinated with both the owner's preferences and the surrounding interior.
