EX-MAX-3 Cat Tree for Maine Coons – Two Hammocks and Three Resting Areas

The EX-MAX-3 cat tree for Maine Coons is a freestanding model from the MAX range, designed for large and heavy cats. It combines three substantial 18 cm scratching posts with three different resting areas: a large single hammock, a double hammock and a spacious raised rosette bed.

EX-MAX-3 was developed primarily for Maine Coons, Norwegian Forest Cats and other large, strongly built cats. Its enlarged resting areas provide considerably more usable space than the small platforms found on many standard cat trees, while the different bed types allow the cat to choose between several resting positions.

One of the most distinctive features of this model is the combination of two different hammock designs in a single structure. The cat can use the large open single hammock, the more enclosing double hammock or the elevated rosette bed. This gives EX-MAX-3 three different resting zones without the need for an enclosed cat house.

Stable 60 × 70 cm base

The EX-MAX-3 stands on a rectangular 60 × 70 cm base. A suitable support area is particularly important for large cats, which create considerably higher dynamic loads when jumping onto beds and moving between levels than when simply resting.

The cat tree should be positioned on a level, firm and stable floor. Sufficient free space around the structure will allow a large cat to jump comfortably into the hammocks, turn around and move between the different levels without obstruction.

162 cm high with efficient use of vertical space

The total height of EX-MAX-3 is 162 cm. The structure provides several levels for activity and rest while remaining more compact than the tallest EX-MAX models. It is therefore an interesting option where a full-size cat tree for a large cat is required without the need for a structure exceeding two metres in height.

The arrangement of the resting areas encourages vertical movement. The cat can move between the hammocks, use the posts for scratching and climbing, and then settle in the highest rosette bed to observe the room from above.

Three substantial 18 cm scratching posts

EX-MAX-3 is equipped with three scratching posts, each 18 cm in diameter. Their large diameter provides an extensive scratching surface and at the same time creates strong support for the generously sized resting elements.

The posts are 40, 50 and 100 cm long. Their different lengths provide scratching surfaces at several levels of the structure. The cat can use them while moving through the cat tree as well as for normal upright scratching and stretching.

100 cm scratching post for comfortable stretching

The longest scratching post measures 100 cm. It allows a large cat to place its front paws high on the post and adopt a more extended position while scratching. This is particularly useful for Maine Coons, whose long bodies and limbs require more space than those of an average-sized cat.

Scratching is not only part of claw maintenance. Cats also use it to stretch the muscles of the back, shoulders and limbs and to mark their environment naturally. A sufficiently long scratching area makes these behaviours easier to perform in a comfortable position.

Large 62 × 72 cm single hammock

The first resting area is a single hammock with an overall frame size of 62 × 72 cm. The actual lying area measures approximately 55 × 62 cm, providing a large cat with ample room to rest comfortably.

The flexible hammock surface adapts to the shape of the cat's body. The cat can lie on its side, curl up to sleep or rest its paws and head along the edge while still retaining a clear view of the room.

70 × 70 cm double hammock

The second resting zone is a large 70 × 70 cm double hammock with an approximately 45 × 65 cm lying area. It offers a different type of support from the single hammock and allows the cat to choose the resting surface that best suits its current preference.

The combination of two different hammocks is one of the main characteristics of EX-MAX-3. Large cats often change both location and sleeping position throughout the day, so several independent resting areas can be considerably more practical than a single large platform.

Rosette bed with a 50 cm internal diameter

The highest resting area is a spacious rosette bed with an internal diameter of 50 cm and a 56 cm top diameter. Its raised edge surrounds the cat and provides support for the back, head or paws while resting.

With a rosette bed, the internal diameter is particularly important because it represents the actual usable space available to the cat. The 50 cm interior has been selected with large breeds in mind, while the open top allows the cat to observe its surroundings from an elevated position without entering an enclosed house.

Three different resting areas

EX-MAX-3 provides three independent resting zones with clearly different characteristics. The single hammock offers a large open surface, the double hammock provides a more enclosing form of support and the rosette creates a raised bed with a surrounding edge.

This arrangement allows the cat to change resting place according to the time of day, temperature, preferred sleeping position or desire to observe the room. It can also be practical in a multi-cat household because the structure offers more than one full-size resting area.

Open design without an enclosed house

EX-MAX-3 does not include an enclosed cat house. All three resting areas remain open and easily accessible. The model is particularly suitable for cats that enjoy hammocks and elevated open beds but are less interested in enclosed hiding places.

The open layout also maintains good visibility between the different levels and allows the cat to monitor its surroundings from almost every part of the structure.
