The EX-MAX-0 Maine Coon scratching post is the simplest and most compact model in the specialist EX-MAX range. It has been designed for large and heavy cats, including exceptionally substantial adult Maine Coons weighing around 12–14 kg. Despite its clean, minimal form, this is not a lightweight standard scratching post. It is a substantial structure with an enlarged base, an extra-thick column and a large upper resting platform.

The 60 × 60 cm base provides wide and rigid support for the entire structure. The post and upper bed are positioned centrally, without large platforms extending far to either side. This straightforward layout reduces unnecessary leverage and provides a stable structure while occupying a relatively compact area of floor space.

The main feature of EX-MAX-0 is its massive 18 cm diameter scratching column. It provides considerably more usable scratching surface than the narrow posts commonly found in standard cat furniture. A large Maine Coon can place its front paws firmly against the post, grip the sisal and use the surface while stretching or pulling itself upwards.

The model is available with three post lengths: 80, 100 or 120 cm. These create total heights of approximately 95, 115 and 135 cm. The selected version can therefore be matched to the cat’s body length, size and preferred scratching position.

For the largest, long-bodied Maine Coons, the 120 cm post will usually be the most functional option, as it provides generous space for full-body vertical stretching. The 80 and 100 cm versions can suit somewhat smaller cats, serve as an additional scratching station in a multi-cat home or be used where the available height is limited.

At the top is an open resting platform measuring 51 cm in diameter. It creates an elevated place for sitting, resting and observing the surroundings. Unlike a small enclosed basket, the open design gives a large cat easier access and more freedom when turning around or changing position.

EX-MAX-0 is a practical option for owners looking for a stable scratching post for a Maine Coon without requiring a large multi-level tower with several houses and hammocks. It uses less floor space than the largest cat trees while retaining the substantial dimensions associated with the EX-MAX range.

The structure can serve as the main scratching place for one large cat or as an additional scratching and resting point in a multi-cat household. It is particularly useful near a favourite sleeping place, along a frequently used route or beside furniture that the cat has previously selected for scratching.

During configuration, the post length, fabric type and colour, wood colour, sisal colour and finish of the upper resting platform can be selected. This allows the structure to be adapted both to the needs of the cat and to the interior of the room.
