EX-S-MAX-7 – a giant floor-to-ceiling Maine Coon cat tree weighing approximately 160 kg

The EX-S-MAX-7 floor-to-ceiling Maine Coon cat tree is the largest and most extensive structure in the EX-S-MAX range. Weighing approximately 160 kg, it creates a full-sized multi-level environment for large cats. The model combines substantial 18 cm diameter posts, two enormous structural platforms, four 60 cm round beds, a double cat-house module, two upper beds and two suspended beds. The complete structure is stabilised between the floor and ceiling by a robust tensioning system based on an M12 screw.

EX-S-MAX-7 has been developed primarily for Maine Coons, Norwegian Forest Cats and other large, heavy and highly active cats. It can provide one animal with an exceptionally extensive environment or serve as shared vertical territory in a multi-cat home or cattery.

The scale of this model is far greater than that of a conventional floor-to-ceiling cat tree built around one post and several small platforms. EX-S-MAX-7 requires approximately 150 cm of width and 200 cm of depth. It should therefore be treated as a full-sized part of the room rather than a compact scratching post placed in a narrow corner.

The most extensive model in the EX-S-MAX range

EX-S-MAX-7 combines a floor-to-ceiling cat tree, a multi-level activity centre and a large resting environment for several cats. Unlike simpler EX-S-MAX models, it is not based solely on one vertical axis with a small number of beds.

Two platforms measuring 100 × 135 cm create substantial structural levels. They contain four round beds with a diameter of 60 cm. The model also includes a double cat-house module with two enclosed interiors, two beds on top of the houses and two suspended beds.

This provides a total of ten clearly defined resting places. The individual zones are positioned at different heights and offer different degrees of enclosure, allowing cats to choose between open observation points, suspended beds and sheltered house interiors.

Designed for the dynamic loads produced by large cats

A large Maine Coon does not load a cat tree only with its stationary body weight. The greatest forces occur during jumping, sudden stopping, climbing a post or pushing away from one level towards another. Exceptionally large cats may weigh approximately 12–14 kg and generate substantially greater loads when landing dynamically on a lateral component.

The stability of EX-S-MAX-7 results from the complete structure: its approximately 160 kg mass, substantial 18 cm posts, large platforms connecting the separate sections, bed and house fixings and the floor-to-ceiling tensioning system.

Different parts of this model may be loaded simultaneously. One cat may occupy a house, another the upper bed, while another animal jumps onto a platform or suspended bed. The rigidity of the complete construction and the way forces are transferred between its components are therefore particularly important.

Robust M12 floor-to-ceiling tensioning system

EX-S-MAX-7 is stabilised by a floor-to-ceiling tensioning mechanism based on an M12 screw. When adjusted correctly, the system creates an additional support point at the ceiling and restricts movement of the tall structure during climbing and energetic jumping.

The tensioning mechanism does more than provide final height adjustment. It also maintains controlled pressure against a suitably stable ceiling. This is especially important on a model with very large platforms and numerous elements extending beyond the principal post line.

The M12 screw is only one part of the structural system. Correctly tightened connections, rigid posts, secure mounting of the large platforms, houses and beds, and accurate alignment of the complete cat tree are equally important.

Manufactured to the actual height of the room

EX-S-MAX-7 is manufactured according to the room height supplied when the order is placed. Before purchase, the vertical distance between the finished floor and the ceiling must be measured precisely at the intended installation point.

The measurement should not be based solely on architectural plans. Floors and ceilings may have local irregularities or slight slopes. Several measurements should be taken close to the final position and the actual finished-room dimension should be provided.

The correct measurement directly affects the adjustment range of the M12 mechanism and the pressure that can be achieved. A substantial difference between the supplied and actual height may make installation difficult or prevent correct stabilisation.

A stable ceiling and suitably load-bearing floor

The upper tensioning component must rest against a flat, stable and suitably strong part of the ceiling. The system operates through pressure, so the surface above the cat tree must be capable of carrying that pressure safely.

With a suspended ceiling, lightweight boards, decorative panels, ceiling tiles or another surface that is not itself a rigid structural element, suitability should be checked before installation. A thin surface layer should not automatically be regarded as an appropriate support point.

The floor is equally important because the complete cat tree weighs approximately 160 kg. It should be flat, stable and suitably load-bearing. With raised, flexible, timber or otherwise uncertain floors, the installation location should be assessed before purchase.

Approximately 160 kg and the need to plan installation

EX-S-MAX-7 weighs approximately 160 kg. This high mass increases resistance to movement and rocking, but it also means that the final position should be selected before assembly begins.

Once assembled, the cat tree is not intended to be moved frequently between rooms. Door widths, access routes, windows, radiators, furniture and the working space required for assembly should all be considered in advance.

The most practical approach is to move the separate components directly into the final room and assemble the structure in its intended position. Access should also be retained for cleaning, connection checks and future servicing.

A 60 × 60 cm base but an actual footprint of approximately 150 × 200 cm

The lower base of EX-S-MAX-7 measures 60 × 60 cm. This does not mean that the complete model fits within that area. Its large platforms, houses and beds extend far beyond the base.

The product requires an installation area of approximately 150 cm in width and 200 cm in depth. These dimensions must be considered before ordering because EX-S-MAX-7 needs considerably more room than the other structures in the range.

Additional space should be left for running jumps, lateral access, safe descent and turning the long body of a Maine Coon. The structure should not block a passage or stand too close to objects that the cat could strike while jumping.

Substantial 18 cm diameter MAX posts

The complete construction is supported by MAX posts with a diameter of 18 cm. They are considerably thicker than the posts used on many conventional floor-to-ceiling cat trees.

The increased diameter provides a broad sisal-rope scratching surface. A Maine Coon can place its front paws high, grip firmly with its claws and use the posts for scratching, stretching, climbing and pulling its complete body upwards.

The posts also perform a structural function. They support the enormous platforms, double house and beds arranged throughout the cat tree. On a model of this scale, they are load-bearing components as well as scratching surfaces.

Two enormous 100 × 135 cm platforms

EX-S-MAX-7 contains two platforms measuring 100 × 135 cm. These are exceptionally large structural components, considerably larger than the conventional platforms used on most cat trees.

The platforms create broad levels containing the round beds. They can also form wide routes between the posts, houses and separate resting zones.

Large surfaces are particularly valuable in a multi-cat home. A cat can pause, turn around or pass another animal without having to walk directly through an occupied bed. The broad arrangement also reduces dependence on one narrow route through the structure.

Four 60 cm beds positioned within the platforms

The two large platforms contain a total of four beds with a diameter of 60 cm. These are full-sized resting areas suited to the proportions of an adult Maine Coon.

A 60 cm diameter gives a large cat room to position its torso, curl up, rest semi-reclined or allow part of its paws and tail to extend beyond the central area.

Four separate beds allow the cat to select different sides and heights. In a multi-cat household, they can also help divide the available space and reduce competition for one preferred resting place.

56 × 130 cm double cat-house module

One of the central components of EX-S-MAX-7 is a double cat-house module measuring 56 × 130 cm. It creates two separate enclosed resting areas within one substantial structural element.

The double design is particularly useful in a multi-cat environment. Two animals can use separate interiors rather than sharing one house, while one cat may also choose between the two positions according to light, temperature or the presence of other animals.

The module must carry both its own weight and the dynamic loads produced when cats enter the houses or jump onto the beds above them.

Two house interiors with a diameter of 50 cm

Each house has an internal diameter of 50 cm. This provides a large cat with suitable room to enter, turn around and settle in a sheltered position.

The houses are the most enclosed areas on the complete structure. A cat can withdraw from direct view, rest after energetic activity or sleep in a quieter zone.

Comfort will always depend on the individual animal’s body length, torso width and preferred sleeping posture, but a 50 cm interior offers considerably more room than the small dens fitted to many conventional cat trees.

Two upper beds with a diameter of 56 cm

Each house includes an additional upper bed with a diameter of 56 cm. The double module therefore provides two enclosed interiors and two open resting surfaces above them.

The upper beds can function as observation points, places for shorter rest or sleeping areas for cats that prefer to remain visible. Their position provides a different view from the beds located within the large platforms.

In a multi-cat home, one animal may rest inside a house while another occupies the surface above, provided their relationship allows them to remain this close together.

Two suspended beds with a diameter of 60 cm

EX-S-MAX-7 also includes two suspended beds with a diameter of 60 cm. They complement the rigid platforms and upper beds with a different type of resting surface.

The suspended form gives the body softer, partly recessed support. It may suit cats that like a surface surrounding the sides of the body while preserving an open view of the room.

Two separate suspended beds allow several cats to use this type of resting area or enable one animal to change height and position according to its current preference.

Ten principal resting places

EX-S-MAX-7 provides a total of ten clearly defined resting places:

  • four 60 cm beds positioned within the two large platforms,
  • two 50 cm house interiors,
  • two 56 cm upper beds on the houses,
  • two 60 cm suspended beds.

Ten places do not automatically mean that every group of cats will use the complete structure simultaneously. This depends on temperament, relationships and preferred personal distance. The model nevertheless offers considerably greater opportunities to divide the available territory than a cat tree with one or two beds.

The varied forms also allow each cat to choose according to its immediate needs: an open bed, a suspended resting area or an enclosed house.

Multiple routes between the levels

On a structure of this scale, the route between the beds is as important as the number of beds. The large platforms, posts, houses and suspended elements create several possible directions of movement.

The cat does not need to make one high jump directly from the floor to the upper section. It can use successive levels as stages, pause on the broad platforms and select another route according to which positions are occupied.

Alternative routes are especially valuable in a multi-cat home because they reduce the risk of one animal completely blocking access to the upper part of the structure.

Open and sheltered zones for different preferences

EX-S-MAX-7 combines open observation points with more sheltered areas. The beds within the platforms and the upper surfaces of the houses provide a broad field of vision, while the house interiors allow the cat to withdraw from direct contact with its surroundings.

The suspended beds provide an intermediate option. They remain open but partly surround the body and offer softer support than a flat platform.

The cat can change location according to the time of day, temperature, sunlight, household activity, the presence of other animals and its immediate need for observation or quiet sleep.

Designed for multi-cat homes and Maine Coon catteries

The large number of zones, extensive footprint and approximately 160 kg weight make EX-S-MAX-7 particularly suitable for a multi-cat home, dedicated cat room or Maine Coon cattery.

Individual cats can occupy separate parts of the structure and choose different heights and degrees of enclosure. The wide platforms also make passing and changing direction easier.

The product information does not specify a maximum number of cats or a maximum permitted load. Use should therefore be matched to the weight, activity and relationships of the particular animals, while all connections and the ceiling tension should be inspected regularly.

Materials, finish and personalisation

EX-S-MAX-7 combines lacquered wooden components, sisal-rope posts and soft resting areas. The visible wood gives the structure the character of a large piece of furniture and helps it coordinate with the interior.

Available fabric, wood, house-interior, mat and rope options can be selected during configuration. Choices concerning the entrances, upper lids, base, underside finish and engraving are also available.

Colour selection is especially important on a model occupying approximately 150 × 200 cm. EX-S-MAX-7 will be one of the largest and most visible elements in the room, so the wood, textiles and sisal should be treated as one complete composition.

Service and replaceable components

Such an extensive cat tree is intended for long-term use. Wear to one bed, textile element, post or sisal surface does not necessarily require replacement of the complete structure.

Individual components can be serviced and ordered as spare parts. This is particularly important when several large cats use the cat tree intensively, because textiles and scratching surfaces may wear earlier than the principal wooden components.

Regular hair removal and inspection of the fabrics, rope, bed fixings, houses, platforms and tensioning mechanism help keep the model in suitable condition for many years.

Correct installation and periodic structural checks

The safety of EX-S-MAX-7 depends not only on its weight and materials but also on correct assembly. Every component should be connected according to the instructions, while the complete structure must be vertically aligned and correctly stabilised at the ceiling.

The connections and M12 tension should be checked again after the first period of intensive use. Components may settle slightly under pressure, while repeated jumps by large cats gradually load the complete system.

Inspection should be repeated periodically and after moving the structure, changing the floor, renovating the room or noticing increased movement. The tensioning system should remain firmly supported between a stable ceiling and a suitably load-bearing floor.

Who is EX-S-MAX-7 designed for?

EX-S-MAX-7 is intended for owners of large and active cats who have a suitably spacious room and require a complete environment for climbing, scratching, observing and resting.

It is particularly well suited to Maine Coons, Norwegian Forest Cats and other large cats that enjoy elevated positions, spacious beds and movement between multiple levels.

Before purchase, the approximately 160 kg weight, 150 × 200 cm installation area, precise room height, ceiling construction and floor capacity must all be considered. The model requires a deliberately selected location, but in return creates an exceptionally extensive environment for an entire group of cats.
