EX-S-MAX-6 floor-to-ceiling Maine Coon cat tree – large hammock, platform and elevated house

The EX-S-MAX-6 floor-to-ceiling Maine Coon cat tree is a tall tension-mounted structure from the MAX range, designed for large, heavy and active cats. It combines substantial 18 cm diameter scratching posts, a large 70 × 70 cm single hammock, a 60 cm round platform and an elevated cat house with an additional bed on top. The complete structure is stabilised between the floor and ceiling by a robust tensioning mechanism based on an M12 screw.

EX-S-MAX-6 has been developed primarily for Maine Coons, Norwegian Forest Cats and other cats with a long body and substantial build. Its design takes into account not only the space required for comfortable rest, but also the loads generated during energetic climbing, running jumps and sudden movement between the different levels.

The model provides both open and more sheltered positions. The cat can rest in the spacious hammock, observe the room from the large platform, withdraw into the house or use the upper bed on its roof. This allows the resting place to be selected according to the cat’s immediate need for observation, sleep or privacy.

A floor-to-ceiling MAX structure for large cats

EX-S-MAX-6 is not a conventional floor-to-ceiling cat tree fitted merely with enlarged beds. It is a MAX structure in which the post diameter, resting-area dimensions and method of stabilisation have been adapted to the movement and proportions of a large cat.

The 18 cm posts form a substantial load-bearing axis and provide extensive scratching surfaces. The platform has a diameter of 60 cm, the house has an internal diameter of 50 cm and the upper bed measures 56 cm. These components give an adult Maine Coon considerably more room than the small shelves and houses found on many cat trees for average-sized animals.

With a large cat, the resting surface is not the only important consideration. The hammock frame, platform and house fixings, connections between the post sections and the complete ceiling stabilisation system must also remain appropriately rigid.

Stability during energetic Maine Coon jumps

The weight of a cat lying quietly in the hammock is not the greatest load acting on the structure. Much greater forces are generated when a Maine Coon weighing as much as 12–14 kg jumps at speed onto the side platform, lands in the hammock, climbs a post or pushes away from the structure towards another level.

Dynamic loads may be substantially greater than the pressure created by stationary body weight. The stability of EX-S-MAX-6 therefore depends on the complete system: the base, thick posts, threaded connections, hammock frame, platform and house fixings and correctly tensioned ceiling mechanism.

The upper pressure plate restricts movement of the tall structure and helps transfer forces acting on components extending beyond the main post axis. It does not replace correct assembly, however. Every component must be securely connected and the cat tree should stand vertically between a flat floor and a stable, suitably strong ceiling.

Robust M12 floor-to-ceiling tensioning system

The upper section of EX-S-MAX-6 is stabilised by a tensioning mechanism based on an M12 screw. The system allows final adjustment to the room height and creates controlled pressure between the base on the floor and the upper plate against the ceiling.

The M12 screw does more than adjust the height. When set correctly, it creates a second support point for the tall cat tree and helps restrict movement during climbing, scratching and energetic jumps onto the hammock, platform and house.

The durability of the cat tree does not depend on the screw alone. Post rigidity, correctly tightened connections, secure lateral-component fixings and even contact between both supporting surfaces are equally important. EX-S-MAX-6 should be treated as one integrated structural system.

Manufactured to the actual room height

EX-S-MAX-6 is manufactured to the room height supplied when the order is placed. Before purchase, the vertical distance from the finished floor to the ceiling must be measured precisely at the intended installation point.

The measurement should not be based solely on architectural documentation. Floors and ceilings may have local irregularities or slight slopes. It is advisable to take several measurements close to the planned position and provide the actual dimension of the completed room.

The correct height directly affects the adjustment range of the M12 mechanism and the pressure that can be achieved. A substantial difference between the supplied measurement and the actual room height may make installation difficult or prevent correct stabilisation.

Suitable ceiling and floor surfaces

The upper pressure plate should rest against a flat, stable and suitably strong part of the ceiling. The tensioning mechanism operates by pressure, so the surface above the cat tree must be capable of carrying that pressure safely.

With a suspended ceiling, lightweight boards, decorative panels or another surface that is not itself a rigid structural element, suitability should be checked before installation. A thin covering should not automatically be treated as an appropriate ceiling support point.

The floor is equally important. The base should make even contact with a flat and stable surface. A thick carpet, soft floor covering or material that compresses under pressure may affect vertical alignment and the subsequent tension of the structure.

60 × 60 cm base and the actual installation area

EX-S-MAX-6 stands on a 60 × 60 cm base. Compared with an extensive freestanding cat tree, its principal floor footprint is relatively compact because the structure primarily uses the height of the room.

The base forms the lower support point of the complete system. Working together with the ceiling plate, it carries the weight of the structure and the forces produced while the cat moves between the levels.

The hammock, round platform and elevated house extend beyond the outline of the base. The actual space required is therefore considerably larger than 60 × 60 cm. Sufficient clearance should be left for lateral jumps, the long body of a Maine Coon, hanging paws and tail, and safe access to and from the structure.

Substantial 18 cm diameter scratching posts

One of the principal features of EX-S-MAX-6 is its 18 cm diameter scratching posts. They are considerably thicker than the posts used on many standard floor-to-ceiling cat trees.

The increased diameter provides a broad sisal-rope surface. A Maine Coon can place its front paws high, grip firmly with its claws and use the posts both for claw care and for climbing and pulling its complete body upwards.

The thick posts also form the substantial load-bearing axis of the tall structure. This is particularly important when the cat tree is loaded laterally as a large cat jumps onto the extending hammock, platform or house.

The overall post axis is adapted to the height of the room. Individual sections provide scratching and climbing surfaces at different levels.

Large 70 × 70 cm single hammock

EX-S-MAX-6 is equipped with a large 70 × 70 cm single hammock. Unlike a double hammock, it creates one undivided resting area intended primarily for a cat that needs a spacious and open surface.

The continuous hammock form allows a large Maine Coon to position its torso freely, curl up or adopt a more extended sleeping posture. The fabric adapts beneath the animal’s weight and supports the body differently from a rigid shelf.

The hammock partly surrounds the cat’s sides and provides soft support while remaining open to the room. The animal can observe its surroundings, enter the bed easily and leave without passing through an enclosed opening.

The large single hammock is particularly suitable for a cat that prefers one broad soft surface rather than two smaller levels. It can also function as a comfortable observation position well above floor level.

60 cm round platform

The model includes a round platform with a diameter of 60 cm. It is a large, stable surface that can serve as an intermediate level, observation point and full-sized resting area.

A diameter of 60 cm gives an adult Maine Coon considerably more room than the small steps fitted to many conventional floor-to-ceiling cat trees. The cat can stand with its body supported, turn around, sit, lie down or prepare to move higher.

The platform makes movement between the lower and upper sections easier. The cat does not have to make one exceptionally high jump but can use the large round surface as a stable climbing stage.

A soft cushion attached with hook-and-loop fasteners is provided for the open resting surface. It can be removed for hair removal, cleaning of the wooden component and later textile replacement.

Elevated house with a 50 cm internal diameter

The most sheltered element of EX-S-MAX-6 is an elevated cat house with an internal diameter of 50 cm. It has been developed as a full-sized resting area for a large cat rather than as a small decorative hideaway.

The internal diameter represents the actual space available to the cat. An adult Maine Coon can enter, turn around and settle in a more protected position. Comfort will also depend on the individual animal’s body length, torso width and preferred sleeping posture.

The house allows the cat to withdraw from direct view of household members and other animals. It can be used for prolonged sleep, quiet rest after play or retreat from movement in the room.

A round pillow is provided inside the house. It can be removed for more thorough cleaning or replaced with the component included in the separate textile set.

56 cm upper bed on the house

The roof of the elevated house forms an additional upper bed with a diameter of 56 cm. One structural component therefore provides two different positions: a sheltered interior and an open surface above it.

The upper bed can be used as an observation point, a place for a short rest or a sleeping area for a cat that prefers to remain visible. Its position offers a different view of the room from the platform and hammock.

A diameter of 56 cm gives a large cat suitable room for its torso, although the paws or tail may naturally extend beyond the edge. A soft hook-and-loop cushion improves comfort and can be removed for cleaning or replacement.

In a multi-cat home, one animal may use the house interior while another occupies the upper surface, provided their relationship allows them to rest this close together.

Four principal resting zones

EX-S-MAX-6 provides four principal resting zones: the large single hammock, round platform, house interior and upper bed on the roof.

Each zone has a different character. The hammock provides soft flexible support, the platform creates a stable open surface, the house offers greater enclosure and the upper bed functions as an elevated observation point.

This variety enables the cat to change location according to temperature, sunlight, household activity, the presence of other animals and its immediate need for observation or quiet sleep.

Open and sheltered places in one cat tree

EX-S-MAX-6 combines the two principal forms of feline rest. The hammock, platform and upper bed remain open and provide a broad field of vision, while the house interior creates a quieter and more enclosed space.

The cat may change its preference during the day. It can select the open platform or upper bed while monitoring household activity and later move into the house or hammock for deeper sleep.

The owner therefore does not have to choose between a completely open structure and a cat tree equipped only with an enclosed house. This model provides both options in one floor-to-ceiling arrangement.

A vertical route for climbing and everyday activity

EX-S-MAX-6 uses the room height as a vertical activity route. The cat can move between the platform, hammock and house, climb the thick posts and occupy progressively higher levels.

For a young and active Maine Coon, climbing opportunities are as important as a suitably large bed. Movement between components engages the muscles, requires balance and satisfies the natural preference for remaining well above floor level.

The cat tree can be used throughout the day for stretching after waking, claw care, energetic climbing, observing the room, playing and quiet sleep.

For one large cat or several animals

Four resting places with different characteristics make EX-S-MAX-6 an extensive structure for one active Maine Coon or shared vertical territory for several compatible cats.

Individual animals may occupy the platform, hammock, house interior and upper bed. The number of places does not guarantee simultaneous use by every group of cats, however. This depends on their temperament, relationships and preferred personal distance.

When several large cats use the structure, loads may act simultaneously at different heights and from different directions. Correct M12 ceiling tension, securely tightened connections and periodic inspection become particularly important.

Replaceable textile components

A separate textile set for EX-S-MAX-6 contains one single-hammock cover, two hook-and-loop cushions and one round pillow.

The set allows all principal soft surfaces to be renewed without replacing the base, posts, hammock frame or house. This is particularly useful with large long-haired cats that use the beds intensively and leave considerable amounts of hair.

A second set may be used while the first is being cleaned or selected later to change the appearance of the cat tree. Replaceable textiles extend the practical service life of the complete structure.

Service and replaceable components

EX-S-MAX-6 is designed for long-term use. Wear to a cover, cushion, pillow, rope section or another individual component does not necessarily require replacement of the complete cat tree.

The possibility of renewing selected parts is particularly important with large cats that place greater loads on resting areas and use sisal surfaces more intensively.

Regular inspection of the covers, rope, hammock frame, house fixing, post connections and tensioning mechanism helps identify components requiring cleaning, tightening or replacement.

Customisable appearance

Available fabric, wood, house-interior, mat and rope options can be selected during configuration. Choices concerning the upper lid, entrance, base, underside finish and engraving are also available.

A floor-to-ceiling cat tree is a tall and highly visible part of the interior. Coordinating the wood, fabric, mat and rope allows EX-S-MAX-6 to suit a living room, bedroom, dedicated cat room or cattery.

The visible wooden components give the construction the character of a full-sized piece of furniture, while the hammock, cushions and pillow inside the house create soft surfaces for everyday rest.

Correct installation and periodic tension checks

The safety of EX-S-MAX-6 depends on correct assembly. After installation, vertical alignment, even base contact, connection tightness, stability of the hammock frame and house and correct M12 tension should all be checked.

The cat tree should be inspected again after the first days of intensive use. Components may settle slightly under pressure, while repeated jumps by a heavy cat gradually affect the complete system.

Inspection should be repeated periodically and after moving the structure, changing the floor covering, renovating the room or noticing increased movement. The tensioning mechanism should remain firmly supported between a stable floor and a suitably strong ceiling.

Which cats is EX-S-MAX-6 designed for?

The model has been developed primarily for Maine Coons, Norwegian Forest Cats and other large and active cats. It is best suited to animals that enjoy climbing, spacious hammocks, open observation points and the option of resting inside a house.

EX-S-MAX-6 is particularly suitable for a cat that prefers one large, undivided hammock rather than two smaller levels. The platform and upper bed provide stable open surfaces, while the house creates a quieter sleeping place.

Before purchase, consider the cat’s size, weight, age, mobility and jumping style, as well as the number of animals in the home. The precise room height, ceiling and floor construction and sufficient space around the extending components are also important.
