The EX-MAX-9 Maine Coon cat tree is a tall freestanding structure from the MAX range, designed specifically for large and heavy cats. Stable 70 × 70 cm base

The complete structure stands on a square 70 × 70 cm base. Its broad footprint helps maintain stability while the cat climbs, descends, scratches the posts and jumps onto the elevated beds.

Stability is especially important for a Maine Coon. The dynamic load generated by a large cat jumping can be considerably greater than its body weight while resting. The substantial base and 18 cm posts create a structure suited to more intensive use by a heavier animal.

The cat tree should be positioned on an even, firm and stable floor. Adequate free space should be left around it so that a large cat can jump onto the beds, turn around and climb down without hitting nearby walls, windowsills or furniture.

Height of 185 cm and several resting levels

Several posts distribute the cat’s activity across different parts of the tree. The animal can scratch while standing on the base, use the surfaces while moving between levels and grip the sisal when climbing.

Main 80 cm scratching post

The longest post is 80 cm long. It provides a considerably larger vertical scratching surface than the shorter posts used mainly to separate the resting levels. A Maine Coon can place its front paws on the post, grip the sisal and extend a substantial part of its body.

EX-MAX-9 is primarily a multi-level structure with three large beds rather than a model based on a single 120–130 cm scratching column. For an exceptionally long cat whose priority is a complete upright stretch, an individually adjusted version of the structure may be considered.

Regular scratching helps remove the outer layers of the claws, stretch the muscles and leave natural scent markings. Thick posts also provide a broad surface into which a large cat can firmly grip its claws.

60 cm round dish bed with a padded ring

One of the principal resting zones is a round dish bed with a diameter of 60 cm, fitted with a soft padded ring. The circular surface allows the cat to rest curled up, semi-reclined or with its paws placed against the raised edge.

A diameter of 60 cm provides a large cat with considerably more room than the small platforms found on standard cat trees. A Maine Coon can use the bed for a longer sleep as well as for observing the room.

The padded ring defines the resting area and gives the cat somewhere to support its head, back or paws. At the same time, the bed remains open, so the cat retains a clear view of its surroundings and can access the surface easily.

The central and most flexible resting area is the 60 cm pouch-style hammock. Unlike a rigid shelf, the hammock material adapts to the cat’s body and allows it to settle into the resting surface.

The pouch form partially surrounds the torso and creates a softer, more sheltered place. The cat can curl up inside, support its head against the edge or place its paws along the sides.

The 60 cm diameter has been selected for larger cats. This is particularly important for Maine Coons, which may be unable to turn comfortably or distribute their body weight properly inside a small hammock.

The pouch hammock is especially attractive to cats that prefer soft, flexible beds and resting places that partially surround the body. It provides a distinctly different form of support from the two firmer beds with padded rings.

The 60 cm diameter is especially important for an adult Maine Coon. Small paddle platforms may be adequate for sitting, but they do not provide a large cat with enough room for extended rest. On EX-MAX-9, this element functions as a full-sized bed.

Three different ways to rest

EX-MAX-9 provides three principal resting zones, each with a different structure. The round dish bed offers an open circular surface, the pouch hammock adapts to the cat’s shape, and the paddle-style bed creates another spacious resting area with a soft raised ring.

This variety allows the cat to change location according to temperature, time of day, its need to observe the room and its preferred sleeping position. During warmer periods it may choose an open bed, while for a longer sleep it may settle in the surrounding pouch hammock.

The choice of several different beds avoids the need for one compromise resting surface. This is especially useful for cats that change their location and sleeping posture several times during the day.

Open structure without an enclosed house

EX-MAX-9 does not include an enclosed cat house. All three resting areas remain open and easy to access. This layout suits cats that enjoy monitoring their surroundings, avoid fully enclosed dens or prefer to leave a bed quickly.

The absence of a house does not mean that there is no more sheltered position. The pouch hammock partially surrounds the body, while the padded rings on the round and paddle-style beds form raised edges. The cat can therefore select different levels of support and enclosure without entering a closed space.

The open layout also makes it easier to see the cat and access the individual elements when cleaning or replacing the covers.

A cat tree for climbing and everyday activity

Suitable for more than one cat

Three separate resting places mean that EX-MAX-9 can also be used in a multi-cat home. Individual animals can occupy different levels and select different types of beds.

The number of beds does not guarantee that every cat will use the tree at the same time, since this depends on their relationship, temperament and individual preferences. It does, however, provide more opportunities to divide the space than a cat tree with only one bed.

The model may be suitable for one large Maine Coon or for several compatible cats that enjoy open beds and hammocks.

Replaceable covers and the option to renew the cat tree

A separate set of replacement covers is available for EX-MAX-9. This allows the resting elements to be renewed after extended use without replacing the complete structure.

Replaceable covers are especially useful when a cat tree is used every day by a large cat or several animals. Textile components may wear sooner than the posts and supporting parts, so their availability as replacements extends the practical life of the product.

A second set can be used alternately, help keep the resting areas in suitable condition or provide a later change of colour.

Service and replaceable components

EX-MAX-9 is intended as a structure for long-term use. Individual elements such as covers, beds and worn scratching posts can be replaced later without discarding the complete cat tree.

This is particularly important with large cats, which place greater loads on the beds and use sisal surfaces more intensively. Replacing selected components helps keep the structure functional for a longer period.
