The EX-MAX-6 Maine Coon cat tree is a tall, freestanding structure from the MAX range, developed specifically for large and heavy cats. It combines four substantial scratching posts with four different resting areas: an elongated trough-style bed, a round dish bed, a large single hammock and a spacious rosette bed. The cat can scratch, climb, observe the room from above and change resting places according to its preferred position and mood.
EX-MAX-6 has been designed primarily for Maine Coons, Norwegian Forest Cats and other powerfully built cats, including animals weighing more than 8 kg. The enlarged beds and 18 cm diameter posts meet the needs of cats for which conventional cat trees are often too narrow, too low or insufficiently stable.
The complete cat tree stands on a square 70 × 70 cm base. Its broad footprint helps maintain stability while the cat climbs, scratches and jumps onto the higher levels. This is particularly important for a large cat because the dynamic force generated during a jump can be considerably greater than the weight of an animal lying still.
The overall height of EX-MAX-6 is 182 cm. This makes effective use of vertical space and provides several levels of activity without requiring an exceptionally large floor area. The upper resting point can serve as an observation platform, while the lower beds give the cat alternative places to stop and change position.
A cat tree of this height should be placed on an even, firm and stable floor. Adequate free space should be left around it so that a Maine Coon can jump onto the beds, turn its body and climb down without hitting nearby walls, windowsills or furniture.
The structure is supported by four posts with a diameter of 18 cm. They are considerably thicker than the posts found on many standard cat trees. The increased diameter provides a large scratching surface and creates substantial support for the enlarged beds and the complete tall structure.
The model contains two 40 cm posts together with 80 cm and 120 cm posts. Different lengths provide scratching surfaces at several levels. The shorter sections can be used while the cat moves around the tree, while the longest post gives a large cat considerably more room to stretch.
The 120 cm post allows a Maine Coon to place its front paws high and extend a large part of its body while scratching. This is important for adult cats with a long torso and limbs, because a short post does not permit a natural upright stretching position.
Regular scratching helps remove the outer layers of the claws, stretch the muscles and satisfy natural marking behaviour. Several substantial posts increase the available surface and allow the cat to scratch from different positions.
One of the largest resting areas is the 70 × 50 cm trough-style bed. Its elongated shape suits the proportions of a Maine Coon. The cat can lie along its length, stretch its body, rest its head against the raised side or settle into a partially curled position.
The 70 cm length provides considerably more room than the small platforms commonly used on conventional cat trees. The trough is particularly suitable for cats that like to extend their front paws, sleep on their side or allow part of their tail and legs to rest beyond the main sleeping surface.
The shaped form creates a more sheltered resting zone than a completely flat platform. The cat retains an open view of the room while being able to support its body against the side of the bed.
The second resting area is a round dish bed with a diameter of 51 cm. It can be used for sleeping, observing the surroundings or pausing while moving between the different levels of the structure.
The round shape suits cats that like to curl their bodies, rest in a semi-circular position or place their paws against the edge. Its 51 cm diameter gives a large cat considerably more room than a small platform intended only for sitting.
Combining an open round bed with the shaped trough and the more enclosed rosette allows the cat to choose between several forms of body support. Cats do not necessarily use the same sleeping position throughout the day, so varied beds improve the overall functionality of the cat tree.
A distinctive feature of EX-MAX-6 is the single hammock with external dimensions of 62 × 72 cm. The actual resting area measures approximately 55 × 62 cm, providing enough room for a large Maine Coon.
The hammock supports the body differently from a rigid bed. The fabric settles beneath the cat, allowing it to rest within the sleeping surface. Many cats select this position for longer naps because the sides of the hammock partially surround the body.
The generous size is especially important for heavy cats. The cat can lie centrally, rest its head or paws against the edge and change position without having to squeeze into an undersized space.
Another resting area is the rosette bed with an internal diameter of 50 cm. Its upper outer element has a diameter of 56 cm. The raised surround defines a separate sleeping zone and gives the cat somewhere to support its back, head or paws.
The internal diameter is the most important measurement of a rosette, because it determines the actual space available for the cat. The 50 cm interior has been selected for larger cats that require adequate room inside the raised edge.
The rosette is particularly suitable for a cat that prefers a more enclosed sleeping position but does not necessarily want to enter a completely closed house. It retains an open view while providing the support associated with a raised-edge bed.
EX-MAX-6 offers four resting areas with different structures. The trough allows the cat to stretch, the round bed provides an open surface, the hammock adjusts to the cat’s position and the rosette creates a more enclosed elevated bed.
This arrangement avoids the need to select one compromise type of bed. The cat can change places according to room temperature, time of day, its need to observe the surroundings and its preferred sleeping position.
Four resting zones are also practical in a multi-cat home. Cats can select separate levels and beds rather than competing for one place. Shared use will always depend on the relationship between the cats, but the extensive structure gives them greater freedom of choice.
EX-MAX-6 does not include an enclosed cat house. All beds remain open and easily accessible, making the cat tree suitable for cats that enjoy observing the room and are reluctant to sleep inside completely enclosed dens.
The open arrangement also makes it easier to see the cat and reach the individual elements during cleaning. At the same time, the rosette, trough and hammock provide different degrees of surrounding support, so the absence of a house does not mean there are no sheltered resting areas.
The 182 cm height allows the cat to monitor the room from above. For many cats, an upper level is not only a sleeping place but also an area where they feel calmer and have a better view of what is happening around them.
EX-MAX-6 combines a scratching area, climbing structure and extensive resting zone. The cat can move between levels, use several posts, stop on the round bed or trough and then settle in the hammock or rosette.
This layout means the cat tree is useful for more than sleeping. It can become part of the cat’s daily activity, a place to stretch after waking, observe household members and rest quietly above floor level.
The variety of elements is particularly important for an indoor cat, whose environment should provide opportunities for movement, climbing and natural behaviour without leaving the home.
A separate set of replacement covers is available for EX-MAX-6. This makes it possible to refresh the resting elements after extended use without replacing the complete cat tree.
The ability to replace worn covers is particularly practical in a home with a large cat or several animals. The hammock and beds are used every day and may therefore require renewal before the main structure does.
Replacement elements also make it possible to change the colour of the cat tree or keep a second set of covers for alternate use. This improves practicality and extends the useful life of the product.
Available fabric, wood, mat and rope colour options can be selected when ordering. This allows the appearance of the cat tree to be coordinated with a living room, bedroom, dedicated cat room or cattery.
A 182 cm cat tree is a visible part of the interior, so the choice of finish affects not only the cat’s comfort but also the overall appearance of the room. Coordinated wood, fabric and rope colours help the complete structure blend into its surroundings.
EX-MAX-6 has been developed primarily for Maine Coons, Norwegian Forest Cats and other large breeds. It can also be suitable for a heavy mixed-breed cat that requires spacious beds and thicker scratching posts.
The model is particularly well suited to cats that enjoy elevated positions, use hammocks and frequently change their resting place. Four different beds allow the cat to adapt its position to its current needs, while the tall structure provides extensive vertical space.
When selecting a cat tree, it is important to consider not only weight but also body length, mobility, age, jumping habits and preferred sleeping position. For an older cat or one with limited mobility, access between successive levels should be considered especially carefully.
EX-MAX-6 is a tall and stable Maine Coon cat tree offering four substantial posts, a large hammock and three additional resting areas. It is designed for owners looking for an extensive open structure that allows a large cat to scratch, climb, observe its surroundings and rest in several different positions.
