Medium Suspended Cat Exercise Wheel with Support Frame

The Medium Suspended Cat Exercise Wheel with Support Frame is an indoor toy designed to provide cats with movement, active play and additional behavioural stimulation. This model is intended for cats weighing no more than 6 kg. The 120 cm wheel is mounted on a steel axle supported by two self-aligning ball bearings.

The term “suspended” refers to the way the wheel is mounted inside its support structure. The product is not attached to a wall or ceiling – the complete structure stands on its own wooden base.

A wheel mounted on a steel axle

Unlike exercise wheels with a roller base, the suspended version uses a steel axle. The axle runs in two self-aligning ball bearings installed in a steel support structure.

The support frame is made of galvanised steel and enclosed with plywood elements. The complete structure stands on a wooden base measuring 60 × 90 cm.

The exercise wheel is equipped with:

• a steel wheel axle,
• 2 self-aligning ball bearings,
• an adjustable mechanical brake,
• a wheel rotation lock.

Mechanical brake and rotation lock

The adjustable mechanical brake increases resistance and limits the rotational speed of the wheel. It must be adjusted so that the wheel cannot accelerate excessively while the cat is running.

Insufficient brake resistance may cause excessive acceleration, loss of balance and the cat falling out of the wheel. The brake setting should be checked regularly and adjusted when necessary.

The locking mechanism completely immobilises the wheel. Whenever members of the household are away, the wheel must remain locked.

Which cats is the medium wheel intended for?

This model is intended for cats with a maximum weight of 6 kg. The limit must not be exceeded, as this may damage the structure and increase the risk of injury to the cat.

The larger wheel diameter provides more space for movement than the small model. When selecting the correct size, consider not only the cat’s weight but also the length of its body and its position inside the wheel. The cat’s back should not be excessively curved while moving.

Important: the wheel is a toy intended to provide movement and entertainment. It is not training, rehabilitation or medical equipment. If the cat has orthopaedic or cardiac conditions, or if there are other health-related concerns, a veterinarian should be consulted before use.

Preparation for first use

Before allowing the cat to use the wheel:

1. place the product on a level and stable surface,
2. check the stability of the base and support structure,
3. check that the wheel rotates freely,
4. check the operation of the locking mechanism,
5. adjust the mechanical brake to provide suitable resistance,
6. leave sufficient space around the wheel for the cat to enter and leave safely.

Do not use the product if the structure is unstable, any fastener is loose or the rotation mechanism does not operate correctly.

How to introduce your cat to the wheel

Not every cat will immediately understand how the rotating wheel works. Introduce the product calmly and allow the cat to explore it at its own pace.

1. Initially, lock the wheel and allow the cat to inspect and sniff it.
2. Encourage the cat to step onto the running surface with a favourite toy, treat or calm praise.
3. The first movements should be slow, with the brake adjusted to provide noticeable resistance.
4. Initial attempts should be short and always directly supervised.
5. If the cat appears frightened, loses its balance or tries to leave suddenly, stop the activity.

Never place the cat inside the wheel by force or make it run. The cat should use the wheel voluntarily and at its own pace.

Important safety rules

The wheel has an open construction and is not fitted with full protective guards. Intensive use may result in loss of balance, falling out of the wheel, impact with a structural element or contact with a rotating component.

These risks cannot be completely eliminated due to the nature of the product, but they can be reduced by correctly adjusting the brake, providing constant supervision and following the safety rules.

• Only one cat may use the wheel at a time.
• The product may only be used under constant supervision.
• The wheel must be locked whenever members of the household are away.
• Children and other cats or animals must be kept away from the wheel while it is in use.
• The product is intended exclusively for indoor use.
• Do not use the product in areas with high humidity.
• Do not make any structural modifications.
• Commercial or breeding use is only permitted under constant supervision.
• Exceeding the maximum weight of 6 kg may damage the structure and endanger the cat.

Inspection and maintenance

The technical condition of the wheel should be checked regularly. Pay particular attention to:

• the condition of the steel axle and bearings,
• the brake setting and operation,
• the operation of the rotation lock,
• the stability of the base and support structure,
• the tightness of all fasteners,
• the condition of the running surface.

If the product is used frequently or intensively, inspections should be carried out more often.

If excessive looseness, unusual noise, increased rotational resistance or structural damage occurs, discontinue use immediately until the product has been inspected and repaired.
